Abstract:
Taking Hyssopus officinalis seeds as the test material, the germination characteristics of Hyssopus officinalis seeds under different concentrations of salt(NaCl, NaHCO
3,Na
2CO
3) and polyethylene glycol(PEG 6000) solutions were studied by using filter paper culture dish method.Several indexes of seed germination were measured such as germination rate, germination potential and germination index, the tolerance of its seeds was determined through the functional equation established between relative germination rate, in order to provide reference for the application of Hyssopus officinalis in saline alkali areas. The results showed that, 1) with the increasing of salt stress, the germination rate, germination potential and germination index of Hyssopus officinalis seeds were all reduced. The germination initiation time gradually delayed, and the germination rate slowed down.2) Hyssopus officinalis seeds had certain adaptability to salt stress, but the inhibiting effects of different single-salt-alkali solutions on seed germination of Hyssopus officinalis were different.Hyssopus officinalis seeds were more tolerant to salt stress and more sensitive to alkali stress.3)Under mild drought stress(PEG 6000 5 g·L
-1),the germination rate, germination potential and germination index of Hyssopus officinalis seeds were gradully increased. With the increasing of PEG 6000 solution concentration, the germination initiation time of Hyssopus officinalis seeds was delayed, and the indexes showed a downward trend. The germination of Hyssopus officinalis seeds showed low promotion and high inhibition.
