Abstract:
China is the world′s largest vegetable production country and the world′s largest vegetable export country, exports throughout the world more than 180 countries and regions. This study used stochastic frontier model to estimate the trade efficiency and trade potential of China′s top 30 vegetable export countries or regions from 2001 to 2018.The empirical analysis showed that domestic GDP,population size and vegetable output per unit area had significant positive effects on vegetable export, while distance had obvious inhibitory effect on vegetable export.Nearly two-thirds of the partner countries in the top 30 export countries had a trade efficiency of less than 0.5,and the export potential of surface vegetables was huge.Next, targeted trade policies should be formulated to increase vegetable exports to partner countries that can expand trade space.
