Abstract:
’Changjiang 1’ is a new ginger variety selected from somaclonal variants in the virus-free plants of Wuling yellow ginger.It is tetraploid(2n=4x=44),with a growth period of 191 days, dark green leaves, vigorous plant growth habit, average plant height of 97.21 mm, average tiller diameter of 14.68 mm, and average 10.31 tiller per plant.The variety has high resistance to ginger bacterial wilt, aphids and pest mites, strong drought resistance and waterlogging tolerance.Its rhizome is large, containing 4.90 mg·kg
-1 Zn, 0.001 6 mg·kg
-1 Se, 0.82% soluble sugar, 0.92% crude fiber, 8.57 mg·(100 g)
-1 vitamin C,1.29 g·(100 g)
-1 soluble protein, 1.73% gingerol, and strong spicy flavor.The average yield per 667 m~2 was more than 3 600 kg, which was significantly higher than that of the control, ‘Fengtou’ ginger.The variety could be grown in ginger producing areas in the Yangtze River basin.
