Abstract: Dongtai is located on the shore of the Yellow Sea.The soil has strong night moisture and air permeability.It has abundant rainfall and sunshine all year round.It is especially suitable for watermelon growth.As early as 800 years ago,Dongtai in Jiangsu Province had a history of planting watermelon in the Song Dynasty.When entering new China,the household contract responsibility system was implemented in rural areas,watermelon planting in Dongtai began to take a fast track after1984.Dongtai had closely followed the changes of watermelon market demand,made great efforts to write a new chapter in the development of watermelon industry,improved the construction of watermelon industry chain and supply chain,promoted the transformation and upgraded of watermelon industry to green and organic,build a new development pattern of multi-form joint agriculture and agricultural mechanism,such as high concentration of technical elements,digital management of production process,and ‘enterprise+cooperative+farmer’and other forms of joint agriculture and agricultural mechanism in recent years.Through the analysis of the current situation and advantages of watermelon industry in Dongtai,this study pointed out the main problems existing in the development of watermelon industry,and put forward reasonable suggestions and countermeasures for the highquality development of watermelon industry in Dongtai.
