Abstract: ‘Zhengxian No.3’ is a new F₁ hybrid hot pepper variety developed by crossing inbred line‘AB Zhengxingjiao 22’ as female parent, and inbred line ‘Zhengxingjiao 505’ as male parent.It is of mid-early maturity.The plant has strong growth vigor and strong resistance to adversity.The whole growth period is 160 days.The fruit is linear shaped with smooth.Its fruit is 15.0 cm in length, 1.3 cm in width and 0.28 in pulp thickness.Its unmatured fruit is dark green in color, and the matured one is red in color.The vitamin C content of fresh fruits is 76.5 mg·kg^-1,the capsaicin content of fresh fruits is 28 mg·kg^-1.The fruit setting ability is strong, each plant can produce 60 fruits, the average single fruit weight is about 22 g, and its yield is 3 555.6 kg per 667 m~2.In fields, its resistance to virus, phytophthora blight and anthracnose are stronger than those of control varieties.It is suitable for spring open field cultivation in Henan, Anhui and Hubei.
