Abstract:
Taking lily ‘Huang tianba’and ‘Luobinna’as test materials, the effects of petals, calyx, stems and leaves on the morphology of epidermal cells, stomata and minimum water loss rate of two lily varieties were studied by using light and scanning electron microscopy observation methods,in order to provide reference for the difference of skin morphology and water loss rate among different varieties and parts of lily cut flowers. The results showed that there were significant differences in cuticular morphology and minimum water loss rates between different parts of the same variety, but almost no significant differences between the same parts of two varieties. The upper epidermal cells of petals and calyx were short and rounded, while that of the rest parts were approximately rectangular. In addition, the anticlinal wall of upper and lower epidermal cells of leaves were distinctly corrugated.Stomata were found on all parts except the lower cuticle of the petals and the upper cuticle of the leaf of‘Huang tianba’and ‘Luobinna’.The density of stomata, stomatal area and relative stomatal area were the greatest on the lower cuticle of the leaf. The minimum water loss rate of petals was higher than leaves, but there was no significant difference in the same parts between two varieties.
