Abstract:
To define the role of exogenous salicylic acid and exogenous glycine betaine in alleviating the damage of NaCl stress on Impatiens balsamena during the germination period, the effects of two exogenous substances on the seed germination and seedling growth of Impatiens balsamena under NaCl stress were investigated. The seeds of Impatiens balsamena after presoaking treatments with different concentrations of SA(0.5,1.0,1.5,2.0 mmol·L
-1) and GB(0.4,0.8,1.2,1.6 mmol·L
-1) were cultured adopting a double-layer filter paper method under 100 mmol·L
-1 NaCl solution. The results showed that germination rate, germination potential, germination index, vigor index, embryo length, radicle length and fresh weight of seedlings reduced significantly under NaCl stress, and mean germination time was significantly prolonged. The seed germination and seedling growth of Impatiens balsamena were promoted when SA was 1.5 mmol·L
-1 and GB were 0.8,1.2 mmol·L
-1,while the alleviation effect of NaCl stress reduced, and even aggravated the salt injury when SA and GB concentrations were too high or too low.The comprehensive evaluation using membership function revealed that 1.5 mmol·L
-1SA and 0.8 mmol·L
-1GB had the satisfactory regulatory effects on seed germination and seedling growth of Impatiens balsamena under NaCl stress, and the effect of 0.8 mmol·L
-1 GB was better than 1.5 mmol·L
-1 SA.
