Abstract:
Watermelon was used as experimental material to study the effects of different concentrations of forchlorfenuron(6,8,10,12,14,16,18 mg·kg
-1) on fruit development, quality and yield of watermelon, in order to provide reference for the better application of forchlorferuron in production. The results showed that compared with the control, forchlorferuron treatment showed a slow development of melon embryo in the first 7 days, which could promote watermelon fruit setting, with an average fruit setting rate increased by 6.8%,an average increase of peel thickness of 11.1%,and an average increase of soluble solid content of 4.7%.It increased peel hardness and peel toughness, and had no significant effect on yield. When the treatment concentration was high, it would also cause abnormal fruit and fruit cracking.Through comprehensive comparison, the treatment of 12 mg·kg
-1 0.1% forchlorferuron showed the best performance, its expansion speed was faster, the fruit setting rate was the highest, up to 97.4%,the central sugar and edge sugar were the highest, which were 10.3% and 10.9% higher than the control respectively, and the yield was 5.8% higher than the control. The peel hardness and toughness were higher than the control, and there were fewer deformed and cracked fruits. It could be applied in watermelon production.
