Effects of Hormone Treatments on Main Nutritional Quality Indexes of Postharvest Spinach

  • Taking two spinach inbred lines as test materials, six treatments(water, 200 μmol·L-1 ABA solution, 50 μmol·L-1 demethyldihydroguaiacic acid(NDGA) solution, 100 μmol·L-1 melatonin(MT) solution, ethephon solution(ETH),and 1-methylcyclopropylene(1-MCP) fumigation) were set up.The effects of exogenous plant hormones on the main nutritional quality indexes of spinach after postharvest storage were studied, in order to provide reference for further research and application in the post-harvest preservation of spinach. The results showed that the contents of chlorophyll, vitamin C,and soluble sugar were generally decreased in postharvest spinach, while the oxalic acid content did not change significantly in either material.Differently, the contents of folate and nitrate generally increased in two materials, while the soluble protein content changed differently in different materials.Nutritional quality indexes reacted differently to different hormone treatments. The ABA and ETH significantly decreased the contents of chlorophyll and vitamin C in postharvest spinach.Whereas the NDGA alleviated the decrease in the contents of chlorophyll, soluble sugar, and vitamin C in postharvest spinach.Similarly, the 1-MCP treatment significantly increased the contents of chlorophyll, soluble protein, and nitrate compared with the control group. The melatonin treatment improved the soluble sugar content but had no effect on degreening after harvest.
