Abstract
Drought stress has a serious impact on the growth and yield formation of Abelmoschus esculentus,including germination,plant height,stem diameter,number of leaves,leaf area,dry matter production and partitioning,growth period and fruitage.Abelmoschus esculentus has the characteristics of strong drought resistance and wide adaptability.It displays a series of morphological,physiological and gene expression changes to cope with drought stress,which reduce water loss,enhance water uptake,thereby sustaining the growth and development in Abelmoschus esculentus.Revealing the effects of drought stress on morphology,physiology and gene expression in Abelmoschus esculentus could provide important basis for the identification and breeding of drought-resistant varieties.In this study,the recent advances in research of Abelmoschus esculentus responding to drought stress was reviewed,which provide a reference for further revealing the mechanism of response to drought stress in Abelmoschus esculentus.
