Abstract:
Myrica rubra is susceptible to mechanical injury and mold infection during the process of harvesting, transporting, and marketing due to its high metabolism, high moisture content and the lack of epicarp protection. The quality deterioration of post-harvested M. rubra has seriously restricted the development of M. rubra industry. This paper summarized the effects of the preservation technology at the producing area(preservative agent, pre-cooling, short-wave irradiation and electrostatic field) and the novel storage and transportation packaging technology(e.g., shock absorption packaging, modified atmosphere packaging and low temperature packaging) on the quality of M. rubra. Based on the main factors causing the quality deterioration of M. rubra, we proposed a three-dimensional hurdle preservation technology, ’low temperature environment’ + ’shock absorption treatment’ + ’controlled atmosphere technology’, which may become the research focus of M. rubra preservation.
