Abstract:
Packaging is an important commercial treatment of fruits and vegetables after harvest. Appropriate packaging can maintain excellent quality of harvested fruits and vegetables during transportation and storage, preventing mechanical damages, reducing pests, diseases, microbial infections and water evaporation, and avoiding rot and deterioration due to mutual thermal effects. This article reviewed the characteristics of different packaging technologies, such as nano packaging, biofilm packaging, modified atmosphere packaging and active packaging materials, and their effects on the quality and storage characteristics of post-harvested fruits and vegetables, aiming to provide a reference for the preservation of harvested fruits and vegetables.
