Abstract:
In order to explore the effects of different preservants on the quality of cut Rhododendron pulchurum flowers after harvest, and select a suitable preservative formula for cut flowers of Rhododendron pulchurum, the Rhododendron pulchurum variety‘Hongyuanbao’from Japan was used as the research material, and treated by different preservative, and the effects of different treatments on physiological indexes such as vase life, fresh weights change, water balance, plasma membrane stability, and ornamental quality were determined. Results showed that 100~300 mg/L 8-hydroxyquinoline had a positive effect on the preservation of‘Hongyuanbao’, which could effectively delay the appearance of petal edge curling and wilting, promote the increase of flower diameter and maintain longer flowering time(18 d), maintain water balance in the cut flower, slow down the change of fresh weight and the increase of plasma membrane permeability. While, 0.2~0.6 mmol/L silver thiosulfate treatment did not significantly promote the postharvest quality of‘Hongyuanbao’cut flower, but exacerbated the senescence of cut flowers. After screening, the combination of 30 g/L sucrose with 200 mg/L 8-hydroxyquinoline was the best suitable preservative for‘Hongyuanbao’cut flower.
