Abstract:
In this study, the synergic effects of essential oils fumigation combined with carbon dioxide (CO
2) modified atmosphere packaging on inhibiting the growth of Aspergillus flavus were preliminarily discussed. The antibacterial effects of 0.01μL/cm~3essential oil gas combined with 35%CO
2,50%CO
2 and 65%CO
2 were evaluated by monitoring the growth of A.flavus colonies. The results showed that essential oils fumigation could significantly improve the bacteriostatic effects of CO
2 modified atmosphere packaging alone. When treated for 6 days, the colony diameter of prickly ash essential oil combined with 50%CO
2 modified atmosphere sample was 24%smaller than that of 50%CO
2 air conditioning sample, and the colony diameter of prickly ash essential oil combined with 65%CO
2 modified atmosphere sample was 4%smaller than that of 65%CO
2 air conditioning sample, but the bacteriostatic effects were related to the essential oil compositions and CO
2 concentrations. The antibacterial effects of essential oil combined with high concentrations of CO
2 were higher than that with low concentrations of CO
2.After identification, the main volatile compounds of litsea cubeba essential oil, prickly ash essential oil and lemon essential oil were β-pinene,α-pinene and sabinene The results provided a basis for the development and utilization of natural bacteriostatic agents, the improvement of air conditioning packaging and the extension of storage life of agricultural products.
