Abstract:
The FRP profile with wood core is composed of fiber reinforced polymer( FRP) and light wood core,which is prepared by pultrusion process. The axial tensile tests of pultruded FRP profiles with wood core,wood cores and FRP are carried out. The results show that when the wood core and FRP shell worked together,the wood core bore most of the pressure. Compared with the empty FRP pipe,the compressive ultimate bearing capacity of the pultruded FRP profile with wood core is increased by 73%. When the pultruded FRP profiles with wood core are in tension,the wood core is broken first,which leads to the collapse of the shell due to the bolt action,and the bearing capacity decreases.
