Optimization of Steel Strand Tensile Testing Fixture and Elongation Measurement Method

  • During the tensile test of steel strand samples, it is difficult to securely clamp the sample by using the conventional V-shaped clamps due to the high material hardness and relatively loose internal structure, and it is easy to cause the sample slipping and force loss. On the other hand, the original measurement gauge of steel strand samples is very long, and it is difficult to meet the test requirements by using conventional electronic extensometer to measure and calculate the elongation. In this paper, an optimized solution is proposed for the tensile test fixture design and elongation measurement method of steel strand samples.
