Abstract:
In order to study the effect of Clostridium butyricum on the growth performance, serum biochemical indexes and antioxidant capacity of raccoon dogs, 30 Ussuri raccoon dogs with similar body weight and age were selected and randomly divided into 3 groups. The basal diet was supplemented with 0(control group), 1.25×10~8 CFU/kg(group 1) and 2.50×10~8 CFU/kg(group 2) of Clostridium butyricum, respectively. The experimental period was 60 d. The body weight and feces of the raccoon dogs were recorded regularly, and blood samples were collected on the 60 th day of the experiment for the determination of the blood-related indicators. The results showed:(1) Compared with the control group, the ave-rage daily gain of the raccoon dogs in group 1 and group 2 increased extremly(P<0.01), and the feces condition was also significantly improved(P<0.05). The diarrhea rate in the group 1 and group 2 decreased by 20.00% and 31.09%(P<0.05), respectively.(2) The serum ALT level of the raccoon dogs in group 1 and group 2 was extremly lower than that in the control group(P<0.01),respectively. There was no significant difference for the contents of AST, CHO and TG in the serum of raccoon dogs among 3 groups(P>0.05).(3) The serum MDA, GSH and T-AOC of the raccoon dogs in groups 1 and group 2 were not significantly different from those in the control group(P>0.05).The results suggested that adding Clostridium butyricum to the raccoon dog’s diets could effectively improve the daily gain, reduce the diarrhea rate, improve the fecal condition, and also had a certain effect on relieving heat stress and improving the boby’s antioxidant capacity of the raccoon dogs.
