Abstract:
Animal Reproduction, a compulsory basic course in animal science curriculum, includes comprehensive components on the physiological systems of reproduction and on the approaches that are used to manipulate reproduction and reproductive management in domesticated animals. Therefore, the spoon-fed teaching may not be an effective way of teaching students to fully understand the basic theories and technology in Animal Reproduction course. The case method is a participatory, discussion-based way of learning where students gain skills in critical thinking, communication, group dynamics, and a type of problem-based learning. The teaching and research team of Animal Reproduction course in College of Animal Science and Technology of Henan Agricultural University has developed a set of case methods of “case study prior to a class + classroom case training + case conclusion after school”, which proved to be conductive to teaching and learning.
