Abstract:
The fennec fox is native to the deserts of North Africa and West Asia, its most distinctive feature is its unusually large ears which serve to dissipate heat and listen to underground prey. The fennec fox is the smallest fox species. Currently, there are 7 fennec foxes in Tianjin Zoo, including 3 males and 4 females, all of whom are adults aged three to seven. Based on the author’s own working experience, this paper reviewed the survival status of ear foxes in Tianjin Zoo and analyzed the breeding and management of ear foxes from the perspectives of diets, daily routine, environment, disease prevention and immunity, and health management, aiming to provide a reference for better understanding the living habits and needs of ear foxes and further improve the level of breeding management in future for domestic peers.
