Breeding management of the patas monkeys（Erythrocebus patas）

Patas monkeys（Erythrocebus patas）have a wide distribution in West Africa and mainly live in savanna and woodland habitats. They stay in the group, excel in running to escape predators and have high ornamental value. It is very important for their species in captivity to reproduce in ex situ conservation. In 2018, Tianjin Zoo renovated the terrestrial primate houses and implementing enrichment program to improve the welfare of captive animals. Meanwhile, through strengthening feeding management, rational allocation of feed and addressing the full nutritional intake of animals during pregnancy and postpartum, the patas monkeys achieved successful reproduction. This paper introduced the management practice of breeding and disease prevention of patas monkeys in Tianjin Zoo, aiming to provide a reference for the breeding of patas monkeys in captivity.
