The slender-tailed meerkats are well-known to most people who enjoy animals because of their charismatic postures and social activities, and they live in highly social groups in the wild. However, due to the destruction of its natural habitat and illegal capturing, its population is being threatened in recent years. Therefore, artificial breeding has become one of the key means to protect the slender-tailed meerkat. This article summarized the practical measures on the artificial breeding environment design, feed and feeding, reproduction and pup management, as well as health management and disease prevention in the slender-tailed meerkats, to provide a reference for the conservation and the management of artificial breeding of the mongoose population.
