Grafting Compatibility of Different Walnut Interstocks and Scion Combinations

  • In order to select suitable grafts for different intermediate rootstocks of walnut, Yunxin and Yangbi, which have poor adaptability and need high grafting after planting in Guizhou, were used as intermediate anvils, and the existing excellent varieties Qianlinhe 5, Qianlinhe 1 and Xueninghong in Guizhou were used as suds to analyze the relationship between survival rate, growth, physiological characteristics and grafting compatibility of different intermediate rootstocks. The activities of soluble sugar, soluble protein, soluble starch, polyphenol oxidase(PPO) and peroxidase(POD) in the leaves of different intermediate rootstock combinations were measured, and the growth and survival rate of new shoots after grafting were measured. The results showed that the survival rate and growth rate of the group without intermediate rootstock were significantly higher than those with intermediate rootstock. There was no significant difference in POD and PPO content between Qianlinhe and Xueninghong, but there was significant difference between Qianlinhe 1. The difference of soluble sugar content in leaves of Qianlinhe and Qianlinhe 1 among different intermediate rootstocks was significant, but not significant for Xueninghong combination. The soluble starch and soluble protein of Qianlinhe 5, Xueninghong and Qianlinhe 1 were significantly different in different intermediate rootstocks. In this study, the graft compatibility of middle rootstock combinations was evaluated by membership function method. The compatibility of middle rootstock combinations without middle rootstock was higher than that of middle rootstock combinations with middle rootstock. Yunxin and Yangbi were the best varieties suitable for high grafting.
