Abstract:
In order to determine the safety of compound Kushen powder for target animal piglets at the recommended dose, the safety range of the dose used in target animal piglets was studied, and a scientific basis was provided for clinical rational use of drugs. In the experiment, 32 healthy weaned piglets were randomly divided into 4 groups, 1 times(0.5 g/kg),3 times(1.5 g/kg) and 5 times(2.5 g/kg) dose groups, and blank control group(normal saline), and it was given orally for 7 days. Through clinical observations, piglet weight gain and feed-to-weight ratio, blood routine, serum biochemical indexes determination and histopathological observations, the safety of compound Kushen powder on target animal piglets was evaluated. The results showed that the experimental piglets were alive and in good health, with normal clinical manifestations; no obvious necropsy lesions were found in the piglets in each dose group, and there were no abnormal microscopic pathological changes in the organs of the piglets in the 1,3,and 5 times dose groups; there were no significant differences in blood routine and serum physiological and biochemical indexes in the 1,3,and 5 times recommended dose groups, compared with the blank control group(P>0.05). The results suggested that compound Kushen powder had good safety and tolerance to pigs when used at the recommended dose.
