Abstract:
In order to solve the problem that low grass yield of wild Melilotus officinalis, and to satisfy the demand of high quality and high yield forage for animal husbandry development in Jilin Province, in this experiment, the variety comparison test, regional test, production test and nutritional quality determination of the selected new variety of Melilotus officinalis. ‘Gongnong’ were carried out. The results showed that the average fresh grass and hay yield of new cultivar Melilotus officinalis. ‘Gongnong’ reached 52 791 kg/hm~2 and 10 979 kg/hm~2 in 2011—2012, which were increased by 21.71% and 14.32% compared with the control, respectively, and the difference reached a significant level(P<0.05). The average seed yield was 480 kg/hm~2, which was 20.00% higher than the control. In the regional test process of five test sites for two consecutive growth cycles from 2015 to 2017, Melilotus officinalis. ‘Gongnong’ showed high productivity, adaptability and stability. The average fresh grass and hay yield of Melilotus officinalis. ‘Gongnong’ in three experimental sites reached 43 296 kg/hm~2 and 9 093 kg/hm~2 in 2015—2016, which were 18.55% and 11.37% higher than the control, respectively. Melilotus officinalis. ‘Gongnong’ is high quality protein feed. The results showed that the variety has strong adaptability, such as cold tolerance, drought tolerance, mild saline-alkali resistance, high yield of grass, good nutritional quality. It could be used as one of the excellent grass species for improving natural grassland, constructing artificial grassland and exploiting forage resources in Jilin Province.
