Abstract:
A 3-year-old Garfield, weighting 4.0 kg, male, castrated, suffered depression, disheveled coat, poor diet, vomiting, and diarrhea 3 months before treatment. In order to diagnose and treat the cat’s disease, the test used clinical examination, blood routine, serum amyloid A(SAA) and stool examination to confirm the diagnosis, and treatment was carried out based on the diagnosis. The results showed that based on the clinical symptoms of the cat and the description of the pet owner, it was initially suspected of trichomonas infection. After laboratory examination, it was finally confirmed that the cat was infected with Trichomonas fetus and accompanied by acute gastroenteritis. After 7 days of systematic treatment with anti-trichomoniasis and anti-infection methods, the cat’s appetite and mental state recovered, and defecation gradually returned to normal to reach the clinical recovery standard. The results suggested that anti-trichomoniasis and anti-infection treatments were obviously effective for cats with typical Trichomonas foetus infection with acute gastroenteritis
