Abstract:
In order to understand the prevalence of canine corneal ulcers in Zhengzhou area and the sensitivity of infectious pathogens to commonly used clinical drugs, a total of 684 outpatients of all ophthalmology clinics in three pet hospitals in Zhengzhou City from June 2017 to December 2019 were followed up, and 379 canine ophthalmic cases were selected. Among them, there were 102 cases of canine corneal ulcers and the etiology, incidence, breed, gender, age, treatment methods and treatment effects of the disease were statistically analyzed. At the same time, 102 cases of canine corneal ulcers were taken as the research object, samples were taken for bacterial culture and identification, and the isolates with the largest number of isolates were tested for the sensitivity of commonly used ophthalmic drugs. The results showed that among 102 cases of canine corneal ulcers, the breeds with a higher incidence were poodle, bichon, mixed-breed, corgi, and pekingese dogs; the age ranged from 2 months to 19 years, with an average age of(5.80±0.54) years old. The main causes of the disease were trauma(22 cases, 21.57%) and dry eye(14 cases, 13.73%). The treatment of corneal ulcers mainly adopted the method of combination of drug treatment and surgical treatment, in order to improve the treatment efficiency. Among 102 canine corneal ulcers samples, 99 samples showed positive bacterial culture results, with mainly infections of Staphylococcus pseudintermedius. Antibacterially effective antibiotics in vitro were cefometoxime, rifampicin, tobramycin, levofloxacin and ciprofloxacin, and the sensitivity rates were 98.98%,97.96%,96.94%,96.94%,93.88%,respectively; while highly resistant to tetracycline, erythromycin and chloramphenicol, with resistance rates of 96.94%,91.84% and 51.02%,respectively. The results suggested that the cause of corneal ulcers in Zhengzhou area canines was complex and the harm was serious. Early diagnosis should be made to eliminate the cause; a reasonable treatment plan was chosen, and corresponding sensitive drugs for different pathogens for treatment were selected.
