Abstract:
Affected by multiple factors, the animal husbandry and veterinary industry is facing deep changes, and there is an urgent need for high-quality animal husbandry and veterinary professionals. Through the way of questionnaires and interviews, the author investigated 75 animal husbandry and veterinary enterprises from the six aspects of the number and structure of enterprise talent demand, providing jobs and first post salary for graduates with different academic degrees, professional matching employment limit, professional quality demand for undergraduate graduates, and recruitment expectation, so as to know the current situation of talent demand of animal husbandry and veterinary enterprises in China in the new period. The results showed that in recent years, the talent demand for animal husbandry and veterinary professionals was increasing, the supply of animal husbandry and veterinary professionals was insufficient, and the enterprises with large recruitment gaps were mostly breeding enterprises. Enterprises had the highest demand for talents with bachelor’s degree, and offered the largest variety and number of jobs to undergraductes.The salary of the first post provided by enterprises for graduates with various degrees was obviously different. The salary level of the first post was rising year by year. The salary level of the undergraduates and junior college graduates who were more demanded by enterprises was relatively more stable in all enterprises. Enterprises had high expectations for the counterpart employment of animal husbandry and veterinary professionals, and the professional counterpart employment had a great impact on career development. Enterprises paid more attention to the implicit professionalism of graduates with undergradwate degrees, such as executive ability, professional dedication, sense of responsibility, ability of unity and cooperation, communication and coordination ability. Enterprises were more inclined to recruit talents from agriculture-related undergraduate colleges, more inclined to recruit talents of rural, poor, having student backbone or practical experience, and more inclined to the recommended graduates from teachers to the enterprise employment. Based on the survey results, it was suggested that colleges and universities should strengthen strategic planning, deepen the reform of personnel training, improve employment and vocational education, and cultivate more sufficient high-quality professionals for the development of animal husbandry and veterinary industry. Enterprises should enhance the attraction of animal husbandry and veterinary industry and enterprises by optimizing the employment mechanism, creating a good competitive atmosphere for recruitment and deepening the school-enterprise cooperation in personnel education. At the individual level, students should enhance their rational cognition, cherish their major, improve their professional quality, and strive to become outstanding professionals determined to serve the animal husbandry and veterinary industry for a long time.
