Abstract: The assessment of dog behavior is very important for the breeding of police dog, the research of dog behavior inheritance and the selection of working dog. The research materials of dog behavior assessment were sorted and analyzed. The methods of dog behavior assessment were divided into the questionnaire behavior assessment and the experimental behavior assessment. Then five commonly using methods of dog behavior assessment in recent years were introduced such as canire behavioral assessment ＆ research questionnaire（C-BARQ）, dog impulsivity assessment scale（DIAS）, positive and negative activation scale（PANAS）, lackland military working dog behavioral measurement instrument（L-MDBM） and campell puppy test（CPT）. The application prospect and the significance of behavior assessment were proposed to provid the technical reference for the research of behavior characteristics and the breeding of police dog.
