Abstract:
In order to study the effects of adding fermented corn straw or whole silage corn in the feed on growth performance and economic benefits of Huoza meat geese, a total of 150 40-day-old healthy Huoza meat geese(half male and half female) with similar body weight(about 2.38 kg) were selected and randomly divided into five groups: control group, experimental groups Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ, and Ⅳ, with 3 replicates in each group and 10 geese in each replicate. The control group was fed a basal diet, and the experimental groups Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ, and Ⅳ were fed the experimental diet containing 20% fermented corn straw, 20% whole silage corn, 30% fermented corn straw and 30% whole silage corn, respectively. The prefeeding period lasted for 7 days and the experiment period lasted for 30 days.Daily feed intake was counted, average daily feed intake, average daily gain and ratio of feed to gain were calculated, and economic benefit was analyzed. The results showed as follows: during the whole experiment period(day 1 to 30), compared with the control group, the average daily feed intake in experimental groups Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ, and Ⅳ increased by 20.81%(P<0.05), 16.79%(P>0.05), 32.16%(P<0.05) and 35.60%(P<0.05), the average daily feed intake in experimental group Ⅲ was significantly higher than that in experimental group Ⅰ(P>0.05), average daily feed intake in experimental group was significantly higher than that in experimental group Ⅱ(P<0.05).Compared with the control group, the average daily gain in experimental groups Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅳ was increased by 13.53%(P>0.05), 23.04%(P<0.05) and 12.42%(P>0.05), average daily gain in experimental group Ⅲ was decreased by 1.55%(P>0.05), average daily gain in experimental group Ⅲ was significantly lower than that in experimental group Ⅰ(P<0.05), the average daily gain in experimental group Ⅳ was lower than that in experimental group Ⅱ(P>0.05).Compared with the control group, the ratio of feed to gain in experimental groups Ⅰ, Ⅲ and Ⅳwas significantly increased(P<0.05), the ratio of feed to gain in experimental group Ⅱ was decreased(P>0.05), the ratio of feed to gain in experimental group Ⅲ was significantly higher than that in experimental group Ⅰ(P<0.05),the ratio of feed to gain in experimental group Ⅳ was significantly higher than that in experimental group Ⅱ(P<0.05).The economic benefit of all experimental groups was higher than that of the control group, and the economic benefit of experimental group Ⅱ was the highest, with an average increase of 5.85 yuan per goose compared with the control group. The results indicate that feeding the experimental diet containing 20% whole silage corn can increase the average daily gain, decrease the ratio of feed to gain and increase the economic benefit of mixed meat geese.
