Abstract:
In order to increase the production capacity of pigs and promote the high-quality and sustainable development of China’s pig industry, in this study, 14 indicators related to the competitiveness development of China’s pig industry in 31 provinces(autonomous regions and municipalities) in 2019 were selected. Based on the industrial competitiveness model and SPSS 20.0 software, the pig industry competitiveness of 31 provinces(autonomous regions and municipalities) in China was analyzed by factor analysis and principal component analysis. The results showed that production factor(F
1) had the greatest influence on the comprehensive ranking of pig industry competitiveness; demand condition factor(F
2) had the greatest influence on the comprehensive ranking of pig industry competitiveness; enterprise strategy, structure and peer competition factor(F
3) had little influence on the comprehensive ranking of pig industry competitiveness, and related and supporting industries factor(F
4) had the least influence on the comprehensive ranking of pig industry competitiveness. The top 10 provinces in the overall competitiveness of the live pig industry were Guangdong, Sichuan, Henan, Shandong, Hunan, Heilongjiang, Hubei, Jiangsu, Anhui and Yunnan, with F
com scores ranging from 0.29 to 1.07. The top 10 provinces(autonomous regions) of F
1 were Sichuan, Henan, Hunan, Shandong, Guangdong, Yunnan, Hubei, Hebei, Anhui and Guangxi, with scores ranging from 0.48 to 2.02, indicating that these 10 provinces had a high level of production factors. The top 10 provinces(municipalities) of F
2 were Shanghai, Guangdong, Beijing, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Fujian, Tianjin, Chongqing, Sichuan and Hainan, with F
2 scores ranging from 0.08 to 2.56, indicating that the demand condition level of these 10 provinces(municipalities) was relatively high. The top 10 provinces(autonomous regions and municipalities) of F
3 were Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Shanghai, Inner Mongolia, Hubei, Jilin, Guangxi, Yunnan, Hainan and Anhui, with F
3 scores ranging from-0.10 to 4.75, indicating that the enterprise strategy, structure and level of industry competition of these 10 provinces(autonomous regions and municipalities) were relatively high. The top 10 provinces(autonomous regions) of F
4 were Henan, Shandong, Shanxi, Jiangsu, Xinjiang, Heilongjiang, Anhui, Qinghai, Hebei and Zhejiang, with F
4 scores ranging from 0.56 to 1.98, indicating that these 10 provinces(autonomous regions) had a high level of auxiliary industries. In view of this, countermeasures and suggestions were put forward to improve the scale economy benefit of pig breeding, promote regional economic growth, improve residents’ income level, reduce the income gap between urban and rural areas, improve the quality of human resources, and enhance the competitiveness of related and supporting industries.
