Abstract:
In order to analyze the correlation between body size indexes and body weight of hornless Oula sheep in the growing period, a total of 60 1.5-year-old male hornless Oula sheeps and 55 1.5-year-old female hornless Oula sheeps with well-development and health in the growing period were randomly selected. Body weight(Y) and body size indexes(body height X
1, body length X
2, chest width X
3, chest depth X
4, thorl width X
5 and chest circumference X
6) were measured. Correlation analysis, path analysis and multiple linear regression analysis were carried out between body weight and body size indexes, and the optimal regression model was established. The results showed that the main body measurement indicators that affect the body weight of male Oula sheeps were chest circumference and body height, and the body weight were extremely significantly positively correlated with chest circumference and body height(P<0.01). The main body measurement indicators that affect the body weight of female Oula sheeps were chest width and body height, and body weight has a very significantly positive correlation with chest width and body height(P<0.01). The formula for estimating the weight of male Oula sheeps during the growing period was Y=0.992 X
1+0.817 X
6-93.923,R~2=0.859; the formula for estimating the weight of female Oula sheeps during the growing period was Y=0.625 X
1+1.331 X
3-15.011,R~2=0.390. Because the correlation between chest width and body weight was low in the regression equation of body weight and body size indexes of ewe, the equation can only be used as a reference for the evaluation of body weight by body size. The results indicated that in the breeding of hornless Oula sheep, the selection of body size indicators such as body height, chest width, and chest circumference should be emphasized while the selection of body weight should be emphasized.
