Abstract: Under the dual influence of African swine fever epidemic and low pig prices, the pig industry in Hebei Province is facing great challenges. Under this background, the author analyzed the current situation of African swine fever outbreak in Hebei Province and pig products market price as well as the causes of the current prices downturn in Hebei Province（the recovery of pig production capacity exceeded expectations, the high live weight of pigs caused by the pressure of delayed slaughter, the relatively weak market consumer demand, the panic out of pens exacerbated the price decline, and imported pork pulled down the market price）. The factors affecting the development of the pig industry in Hebei Province were analyzed from four aspects: the impact of breeding cost on product price, the impact of animal disease on breeding production, the impact of uncertainty after the recovery of production capacity, and the multiple impacts under “zoning prevention and control”. At last, the paper put forward the countermeasures and suggestions to promote the healthy development of Hebei pig industry: strengthen the early warning and stabilize the market price; continue to strengthen the prevention and control of animal epidemics; actively promote industrial transformation and upgrading; implement the key work of “regional prevention and control”; plan and layout the construction of industrial clusters.
