Abstract:
Selenium is an essential trace element in beef cattle and plays an important role in its growth and development. The author reviewed the effects of selenium additives in feed on the growth performance, slaughtering performance and meat quality of beef cattle, and introduced the distribution of selenium in various tissues in beef cattle, selenium requirements of beef cattle and dangers related to excess selenium in diets, as well as the types and utilization of selenium feed products, so as to provide reference for the research of selenium nutrition in beef cattle. This paper provided ideas for the research and development of new selenium-rich feed and selenium-rich beef products.
