Abstract: The addition of antibiotics in animal feed has been banned in China since July 1, 2020.Therefore, finding antibiotic substitutes has become a research hotspot.As a Chinese herbal additive, Forsythia suspensa can promote animal health and improve animal production perfor-mance.Forsythia suspensa is an excellent substitute for antibiotics because it has less residue in animals and does not produce drug resistance. The author reviewed the anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial functions of Forsythia suspensa and its application in animal husbandry production, and further explored the potential of Forsythia suspensa as a Chinese herbal feed additive, in order to provide a reference for the application of Forsythia suspensa in animal husbandry production.
