Abstract:
Dorper sheep and Suffolk sheep are famous foreign meat sheep breeds. With rapid growth and development, high meat production performance, excellent meat quality and other advantages, they become the end product of high-quality meat sheep. Since their introduction into China, they had been widely promoted and applied throughout the country, which has boosted the development of China’s meat sheep industry. The F1 generation lambs produced by crossbreeding Doper sheep and Suffolk sheep with domestic mutton sheep not only have large newborn individuals and fast growth rate, but also have significantly improved carcass weight, slaughter rate, net meat rate and other meat production performance, which is superior to local sheep breeds. It has better improvement effect on local sheep breeds, and has obvious heterosis. The growth and development, slaughtering performance and lambing performance of Duper sheep and Suffolk sheep and domestic mutton binary hybrid offspring were summarized and analyzed in this paper, in order to provide a theoretical basis for the study of improving commercial meat sheep by using Duper sheep and Suffolk sheep in China.
