Abstract:
Plant parasitic nematode has caused severe damage to crops around the world and is difficult to control. It is urgent to develop efficient and environmentally friendly strategy such as biological control. In this study,we collected 1 613 soil samples from the tropical rain forests of Jianfengling, Wuzhishan, Dalishan, and Yinggeling in the central and southern Hainan. 4 399 Bacillus were screened from the soil samples, from which the 224 Bt were identified using microscope observation. The isolation rate of Bt strain reached 5.09%. The model organism Caenorhabditis elegans acted as the target insect for bioassay. We detected 6 Bt isolates, whose parasporal crystal protein exhi bited good insecticidal activity against C. elegans larva. To our knowledge, this is the first report that described the nematicidal Bt resource from the tropical rainforest of Hainan Island in china. The nematicidal Bt strain and gene could be further applied to the biological control of plant nematodes in the future.
