Research Advances of Rice Gravitropism

  • Gravity is an important environmental factor that can regulate the growth and development of plants. The gravitropism of rice(Oryza sativa) can adjust tiller angle and thus affect architecture and yield. In addition, it can also affect root architecture of rice, which change the plant’s resistance to biotic stresses. Therefore, studying the gravitropism not only helps to elucidate the regulation mechanism of the rice gravitropism, but also has important guiding significance for the improvement of rice plant types and the development of new varieties with high yield. This paper reviews the regulatory mechanism from the following three aspects: one is the induction mechanism of gravity reaction; the other is the mechanism of the conduction of gravity signal by auxin and gibberellin; and the last one is the molecular mechanism of rice gravitropism in regulating tiller angle and root architecture. We also discussed the research hotspots and future application directions of rice gravitropism regulation.
