Abstract: A series of turpentine-based anionic surfactants (TMAS) were prepared from turpentine,maleic anhydride and ethylene oxide through reactions of addition, esterification and polymerization. Effects of molar ratio of components, catalyst, reaction temperature and reaction time were discussed. FT-IR spectra of the surfactants were also studied.
