Abstract: The progresses of researches on cereal straw hemicellulose, including linkages between hemicellulose and lignin, cellulose and protein were introduced. Three new processes of hemicellulose isolation and fractionation, namely alkaline extraction, hydrogen-peroxide extraction and assisted alkaline extraction were overviewed in this paper.
