Abstract: The chromosomes of 7 insect cell lines from Lepidoptera were analysed.The results showed that the favorable treated concentration and time of colchicines solution and hypotonic KCl solution for each cell line,and the chromosomes of the 7 Lepidoptera cells displayed the typical karyotype characteristics of Lepidoptera cell lines:these cells had a great variation in chromosome number,and had deeply heteroploid,chromosomes with diffuse centeromeres were short pole-like,pellet-like and sphere-like.
