Abstract: Urban forestry is emerging and developing rapidly in China' urbanized regions. It is conducive to optimize the national layout of forest resources. Thereby, the urban forestry could make the urban ecological environment better, improve the urban livable quality and enhance the urban sustainability. In this paper, the development process and construction ideas of urban forestry are described, and some planning practices in six provinces and six cities are introduced. According to the national strategy, it is pointed that urban forestry has become a new direction of forestry in China.
