Abstract:
In order to clarify the overwintering regularity of Plutella xylostella in the northern region, the period when Plutella xylostella stopped metamorphosis and its corresponding temperature characteristics were observed in the field of Fanshi in autumn and winter through artificial breeding. The overwintering status and temperature characteristics of each stage of Plutella xylostella( pupae apply pupae burying method at the same time) were determined by caging. The results showed that adults eggs pupae and larvae stopped spawning hatching eclosion and pupation from the end of the first ten days of November, the beginning of the last ten days of November, the end of the last ten days of December and the end of the first ten days of December. The average temperature before and after the 10 consecutive days decreased to below 8℃, 0.73℃, 1.1℃ and-6.5℃ respectively, and the maximum temperature days were less than 6 days(adult 10℃, larva 0℃)when the temperature was higher than 8℃(adult 9 days, larva 4 days). Eggs and larvae(adults and pupae) can survive to the beginning of mid-January and the beginning of late February respectively. No surviving individuals were found at the end of early February and the beginning of late February. When the average temperature is greater than or equal to-5.5℃(eggs are greater than-2.3℃)、the extreme minimum temperature is greater than or equal to-16.8℃(eggs are greater than or equal to-17.5℃), and the maximum temperature below 0℃ is less than or equal to 17 days(less than or equal to 8days), they can survive for 48~62 days(eggs 72 days). When the number of days with the highest temperature below 0℃ exceeds 18days, none of the insect states survives. It is preliminarily determined that Plutella xylostella can not overwinter in Fanshi area under the current climatic conditions. It is of great significance to strengthen the prediction and forecast to improve the control effect of local Plutella xylostella.
