Abstract: This paper discusses the recent phenomenon of a large increase in animal handling-related safety issues as a result of an increase in animal research in regional colleges.Using case studies from recent domestic and international bio-accidents involving laboratory animals,we analyzed the associated safety issues and proposed four feasible countermeasures and operable measures.With these proposals,we aim to provide a reference for the standard operating procedures in safe animal handling and experimentation for regional colleges.
