Abstract: Xinjiang Yili has superior natural environment, abundant forage and relatively strong horse culture foundation. The "Tianma" of YiliZhaosu is of excellent variety and has a certain popularity in the country and even in the world. However, the transportation between the region and the economically developed areas is not convenient, the development of horse industry is relatively lagging, and the mass base is weak. The introduction of relevant national policies, the development of modern science and technology and the contribution of tourism development to industrial upgrading are the opportunities for industrial upgrading and increasing the income of herdsmen in the region. Therefore, the region should continue to promote the development of new horse breeds, create tourism projects with horse culture as the theme, and improve the science and education service system to promote the sustainable development of the horse industry.
