Abstract: Based on the development trend of watermelon breeding, with the aim of breeding high-quality and disease resistant watermelons, a new watermelon variety Huatai 703 was selected through parental breeding and combination selection. The entire growth period of this variety is 92 days, the fruit development period is 32 days, and the fruit is tall and round. The fruit skin is green with dark green sharp tooth stripes on the bottom, and the thickness of the fruit skin is 0.5 cm. The fruit skin is hard, durable for storage and transportation, and has a long shelf life. The flesh is bright red, with a crispy and dense texture, and excellent commercial value. The soluble solid content in the center of the fruit pulp ranges from 12.0% to 13.1%, and the soluble solid content at the edge of the fruit pulp is about 9.5%. Easy to bear fruit, with excellent comprehensive plant traits. Resistance to vine blight, anthracnose,and viral diseases. The weight of a single melon is 2～4 kg, and the yield is 61 875 kg/hm~2.
