Abstract:
In this paper, 5 mung bean varieties including ‘Weilv 50934’,‘Weilv 52500’,‘0802-4-2-1-2-1’,‘Bailv 13’ and ‘1015-38’ were used as materials to investigate the response of mung bean seeds to salt stress and the difference of salt tolerance among mung bean varieties under 6 concentrations(0,100,140,170,210,240 mmol·L
-1) of NaCl stress. The results showed that NaCl stress had little effect on the germination rate and germination potential of the 5 mung beans. With the increase of salt concentration, the germination index of the 5 mung beans decreased to different degrees, and the relative salt damage rate increased to different degrees. The order of sensitivity of germination indexes to salt stress was followed as relative salt damage rate > germination index > germination potential > germination rate. With the increase of salt concentration, the growth indexes of the 5 kinds of mung bean decreased to different degrees, while the stem differentiation was inhibited by high salt concentration. And, low salt concentration promoted seed germination, while high salt concentration inhibited seed germination. There was no significant difference in salt tolerance among different varieties of mung bean. The results showed that the variety ‘1015-38’ had the best salt tolerance, while ‘Weilv 52500’ had the worst salt tolerance.
