Abstract:
In order to investigate the effects of Allium ascalonicum extract on the seed germination and growth of strawberry, the seeds were treated with different concentrations of A. ascalonicum extract, and the changes of germination rate, germination index, seed vigor index and morphological indexes of strawberry at different developmental stages were studied. The results showed that the A. ascalonicum extract with 20 to 30 g·L
-1 concentration could improve the germination rate and uniformity of strawberry seeds while the concentration with 10 g·L
-1 and 20 g·L
-1 could promote the plant height of strawberry at 30 days, and 20 g·L
-1 could also improve the fruit size, quality and sugar content. In addition, the extract concentration with 30 g·L
-1 and 40 g·L
-1 could promote plant height at 10 d and 30 d respectively and leaf growth at 90 d, which also improved fruit size, quality, yield per plant and sugar content. Also, the concentration with 40 g·L
-1 could increased fruit Vc content and photosynthesis while the 50 g·L
-1 concentration was beneficial to the maximum leaf length growth at 30 d and 90 d, and increased fruit size, quality and yield. In conclusion, the 20 to 30 g·L
-1 A. ascalonicum extract could promote strawberry seed germination, and the extract concentration with 30 to 40 g·L
-1 could improve strawberry growth and fruit quality.
