Abstract:
The dry seeds of red kidney bean disease-resistant lines YF-2,YF-3 and YF-5 were irradiated with heavy ion beam at 100 Gy dose, and the effects of radiation on emergence rate, plant traits, green pod and yield had also been studied. The results showed that the plant height, number of branches in main stem, number of pods per plant and number of seeds per pod of M
2 plants were higher than those of unirradiated plants, and the length and width of green pods increased. The 100-seed weight and yield were also greatly increased. A new variety of kidney bean, namely Yunxuan 2 with good comprehensive traits, was bred from the progenies treated with heavy ion radiation.
