Abstract:
Soaking cucumber(Cucumis sativus L.) seeds in 50% methanol solution for artificial aging treatment. The indexes of dry and fresh weight, cotyl length, maximum root length and root volume of seedlings were measured, and the indexes of germination rate, germination potential, germination index, vigor index, simplified vigor index and relative conductivity were calculated. The linear regression analysis was conducted between the relative conductivity of seed leaching solution and soaking time in methanol. The results showed that the morphological indexes of seedlings decreased gradually with the increase of methanol treatment time, and showed a negative correlation with soaking time. Compared with the control, the germination rate, germination potential, germination index, vigor index and simplified vigor index were decreased by 2.08%—39.58%, 4.49%—24.72%, 0—47.5%, 1.08%—58.49%, 4.67%—73.08%, respectively, which were negatively correlated with the soaking time. The conductivity of seed leaching liquid phase increased with the aging time and was positively correlated with soaking time.
