Abstract:
To excavate the wild high-quality germplasm resources of Indigofera stachyodes, the fruits and seeds of I. stachyodes from different provenances of Guizhou were used as materials to observe the morphology, 1 000-seed weight and hard seed rate of I. stachyodes, and the characteristics of seed germination and biology of wild I. stachyodes seeds from different provenances were studied by petri dish germination method. The results showed that there were significant differences in fruit size, seed size, 1 000-seed weight and hard seed rate among different provenances of I. stachyodes(p<0.01). Seed plumpness of D 10(from forest park of Puan County) was the best and seed germination rate of D 9(from Yuelianghe of Liuzhi Special District) was the highest(82%), while seed germination rate of D 11(from Gushuitian of Yangchang country, Pan County) was the lowest(25%). And, the longest germination period was 27 d while the shortest germination period was 18 d, and the vigor index of D 3(from Dawan of Wangmo County) seeds was the best. Further, correlation analysis showed that the 1 000-seed weight of I. stachyodes seeds from different provenances was significantly positively correlated with seed length and pod size(p<0.05), and the long diameter and diameter of seeds were positively correlated(p<0.01). Additionally, there was a significant positive correlation between seed plumpness and seed maturity rate(p<0.05). Germination index was significantlypositively correlated with fruit size, 1 000-seed weight and germination rate(p<0.05), and there was a significant positive correlation between germination potential and pod size(p<0.05), and a very significant positive correlation between germination potential and germination rate and germination index(p<0.01). Finally, the seed size, plumpness and germination characteristics could be used as the basic basis for the introduction of wild ginseng resources and breeding of new varieties. In conclusion, the seeds from D 9(from Yuelianghe of Liuzhi Special District) could be used as the optimal wild germplasm resources of Guizhou ginseng for development and utilization.
